End of the Year Sampler

So, I couldn't find a theme to run all of these cute photos together, but they were all take in the last month of 2006, so we'll go with that.

This first one was taken on a trip to San Francisco a little more than a month ago (San Francisco is the city across the Bay from Oakland). It almost made the cut as our holiday card photo.

This second one is Violet P appreciating her first semi-real Christmas. She was delighted with all the little colorful wrapped boxes and was super-surprised to learn on Christmas morning that there was even more fun stuff actually inside them. Here she is with her Auntie Sandy, surrounded by the detritus of the holiday season.

Near the end of the month, we took Violet to Africa, where she almost was eaten by a hippo. Just kidding! This piece of playground equipment, reminiscent to me of Eastern Europe, is in fact just outside the grounds of the Oakland Zoo. The hippo was solid concrete, and the inside was completely bumpy and jagged. They don't make 'em like they used to.

This last one gives you a sense of the extent of Violet's dentistry. It also gives a reliable glimpse of just how very happy little VPL is. She's quick to smile and does it big when she does.

More later.
