Yes, We're Still Here

Although there has not been an update for about a month, this does not mean that Violet P is not doing anything blog-worthy. Indeed, there has been much to write about, but a shortage of cute photos to accompany the text.

For example, here is a photo of Violet and I protesting the war in Iraq on Market Street in San Francisco. Violet is, technically, in the picture, but you can really only see her shoes on either side of me, as she is in her little backpack carrier thing. Little did I know that at the back of every march is a cadre of kids and parents moving at kid speed and falling more and more behind.
Yes, it was depressing knowing that I was protesting this very same war since before Amy was even pregnant with Violet. On the other hand, it was great for Violet to be in such friendly company. See, as a toddler, her favorite word is "No!" and she was just surrounded by signs saying "no!" and people shouting "no!" It was really the perfect environment for her. May she rarely, if ever again, need to participate in such an event.

Another new development is a wide array of new words and quasi-words. The vocabulary includes, among others:
  • "mama" and "papa" and "Amy"
  • "nana" (banana)
  • "bread"
  • "up!"
  • "peas!"
  • "keys!"
  • "vocado" (avocado)
  • "o-enge" (orange)
  • "out"
  • "Vi-let"
  • "bay-bee"
  • "cat"
  • "dowg" (dog)
  • "bird"
  • "trwee" (tree)
  • "down"
  • "no"
  • "bre-fis" (breakfast)
  • "hat"
More are coming every day.
